One day about four years ago, a neighbor’s Red Brangus bull wound up in our pasture. As we stood there gazing at this amazing animal, we decided on the spot we wanted to raise registered cattle, Red Brangus cattle to be exact. I had an equine background, having showed horses for years, but when my husband Kelly suggested we venture into the cattle business, I decided that sounded like fun. How hard could it be? Surely it couldn’t be much different than raising and showing horses. What a surprise I had coming! On a whim that November day, the adventure that led us to build BKC Ranch in Hockley, Texas, began.
